Rules of The Game
General Tips:
The first rule I should probably just flat out say, loud and clear is, that, there is no Orange Star City RP. Can you repeat that for me? There is no Orange Star City RP.
No, I'm just kidding. Anyways. The real rules.
1) DON'T BE AN IDIOT, PUT EFFORT INTO EVERYTHING YOU DO!
2) You are your character, but you are first and foremost, a player in a game.
3) Respect the decisions of the mods, and respect fellow players. Being a dick is NOT tolerated in this game, nor is stupidity.
4) Expect a high level of communication between players concerning everything from perhaps, how to draw each other's characters accurately, to rough plot....plotting...to random OOC hijinkies that will bond us together as a group. You are in the wrong game if you expect to just play the game without at least SOME level of player communication. I (Rogue- the creator of this game) will be setting up an AIM chat room specifically for that purpose.
5) We are a RP GROUP, so therefore, the individual characters are important, but the overall storyline should be the MAIN focus of whatever we do.
6) If you are not a member of the group or have not been accepted, do NOT post to the tag.
7) Lastly, I, or any mods, reserve the right to boot out a player of the group, even after they've passed any applications, if you turn out to be a moron in actual RP. Again, EFFORT.
Thread Rules
1) This is a "Linear" RP, meaning that most of the time, unless ABSOLUTELY necessary, there will be only ONE thread for roleplaying active, and "IC" gameplay will happen ONLY there. Depending on the storyline, there MAY be opportunities for separate threads depending on how the storyline goes, but don't count on it (at least initially), bub.
2) Once there are 500 replies, or 10 pages on a thread, somebody (not necessarily myself, but possibly may be me) should make a new thread. Whoever wants to make the new thread should post a LOUD AND CLEAR notice in OOC on the current thread that they are making a thread. ONLY do this when there are 500 replies. No less. Oh, and don't squabble over who makes the new thread. If somebody has posted they are going to make the new thread, EXPECT THAT THEY WILL MAKE THE THREAD. Do NOT overstep them and make the thread for them.
3) When making a new RP thread, make the opening image with a NICE image, that correlates to the main storyline. Essentially, this is what you would call a "splash image" in comic book talk, an "establishing shot" in film talk. It has to look nice, or it makes us and you look bad. It also can get the post flagged for LCC. Also include someplace in the image the thread number and any other necessary information (Location, which players should be in this thread, if applicable).
4) When you have finished the image, post a comment in the OLD thread with the URL of the NEW thread so everybody knows where to go next.
Rules of Engagement (Role Playing Rules)
1) The main part about gameplay, is that you need to assume that everything is happening, for real, in the roleplay thread, in "real-time". Do NOT put your character in two places at once. Play as a convincible person and DO NOT GOD MODE. If you need to enter or exit a certain location, RP it out before you make an IC entrance to another place. Think of what you do as like a film- make the effort to make your contribution to the story and interaction with other characters...whatever you do is contributing to the overall game play. You want a good game? Then make a good effort to play nice with the other children, okay?? (Unless of course, it's your purpose as a character NOT to play nice, in which case, yes, you can be evil...)
2) If there's some sort of reason your character can't roleplay with other characters or be in a certain location, don't try and force your way into it. If these characters are members of the military with top secret clearances, OBVIOUSLY a 15 year old high school student will NOT be able to gain access to a meeting between world leaders or intelligence officers. MAKE AN IC PURPOSE FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO.
3) Again, try and make your role play MAKE SENSE. I like mayhem and chaos as much as the next guy, but I want also, a cohesive plot that makes more sense than neon bunnies flogging each other. Got it?
4) As a more technical aspect, and to avoid player confusion as to when your RP "post" or "action" is complete- yes, you can use multiple comment posts to make an action. When you are making a post, but have more images to make, mark the image someplace (a corner preferrably?) with the letters "NC", which stands for "Not Complete". This will let other players know that you are still working on more posts and (hopefully) they will not interrupt you with their own actions (which can possibly screw up with whatever you had in mind, yes?). Continue to mark ALL images with "NC" until you come to your final image in your post. This image will be marked "C", for "Complete". Other players can then post without fear! Exciting!
