World History and Geography

The world begins in a far, far future, that despite the length of time between our current time and their time, it is not too much unlike our own world. However, this world has joined together into one government, the "World Global Alliance", and is only regulated at a continental level and also by the laws of individual city-states.

Orange Star City is one such city-state, and is the capital of the Western Continent (Formerly the "United States", "Canada" and "Mexico"). Other continents include:

Northern Continent: Formerly Western European countries, the Capital is New London.

Eastern Continent: Formerly Eastern European Countries and Southeast Asia. The Capital is East Star City.

East Islands: Formerly Japan, Australia, and many islands of Asia/the Pacific. The capital is New Tokyo.

Southern Territories: Formerly Africa. There is no capital for this region- the area is too divided and many areas of land have very few in population for a true capital to be decided upon.

Southern Continent: Formerly South America. The Capital is Rio de Janeiro.

All other unlisted lands are regulated by the city-states on them and are grouped into a political area called the "Rural Territories and Islands".  There is no global representative for these areas, and each city-state will decide how they will be represented in global affairs. Some choose to ally with other nearby city states. Some do not.

History

Not much can be known and proven about the history of the world between the old world, and the establishment of the current government, as much of the world's written history and artifacts was destroyed in battles during the what will be referred to today as the "Great War". All we have are stories and cobbled together histories from the people who lived before our time.

Prior and During the "Great War":

Many countries were falling to a government primarily made of the allies of the North American continent, forming an authoritarian government ruled by military force and a corrupt group of people in what was once Washington DC.  Not many names are known in regards to this group, as they preferred to keep their names anonymous to emphasize the "power of a group, not the individuals behind". Many laws, cities, and once deemed "born freedoms" were regulated or outlawed under this government.

However, there was a small group of forces that formed during this time period to fight against this corrupt government. They had no former name, but they were primarily comprised of the forces of a former Private Military Company, or PMC, led by former JDF soldier Ryusho Takayama and former US Special Forces soldier Alexander McNeill. This PMC was known as the "Rebel Forces", so most historians continue to refer to these opposing forces as the same name. It fits, after all.

It took several years, decades even, and many lives on both ends, with each side pushing and pulling against each other for control, but eventually it all ended with a large battle between the forces in the city of London. Several men played vital parts in this battle; most of the men belonged to the Barton family. Either way, after this battle, London was almost nearly obliterated, and many smaller, but equally lethal battles erupted within the next few weeks that forced the world to rebuild, both the damaged lands and the corrupted governments from the ground up. Those who had fought in the war, those scarred by the war, and their children, made sure that such a horrid war, fight, struggle, whatever you want to call it, would never happen ever, ever again.

After the Great War

Recent history has been relatively peaceful. The children of those scarred by war have rebuilt, and combined the world into a more peaceful, organized society that strives to always "reach for the stars" in many ways, such as technology, knowledge, and maintain the peace that has been kept for nearly a thousand years after that "Great War."

The Western Continent has risen to be the "main" continent that influences politics within the World Alliance, however, the Northern Continent has also had a strong check on politics and will work with the Western Continent to reach goals.

Military forces for the purpose of war have generally been abolished in most continents- however, local skirmishes between city states sometimes cannot be avoided, as well as battles occurring in the unregulated Rural States and Territories. For this purpose many continents do maintain some sort of military force. By far, the strongest of these forces is the army named after the forces that fought in the Great War, the "Rebel Forces", headquartered in the Western Continent.  They maintain forces to deploy anywhere in the world to maintain peace.
